Turbine Starters Diesel And Gasoline Motors
Air turbine starters are designed to provide high starting torque from a small, lightweight source. The typical air turbine starter weighs from one-fourth to one-half as much as an electric starter capable of starting the same engine.
Ingersoll-Rand air turbine starters are used for starting large diesel and gasoline motors. The air starters can often be found in ship motors, but also in environments such as heavy duty transport and oil and gas extraction. If an electric motor would be used for that purpose, it would be way too large (impractical) and dangerous. Ingersoll-Rand turbine starters have a space-saving air start motor. The simple construction of the Ingersoll-Rand turbine starters makes them extremely reliable.
Ingersoll-Rand also deliver air starters in the shape of vane motors for a number of specific diesel and gasoline motors. Vane motor air starters are nowadays used somewhat less.

PRQ Air/Gas Turbine Starters
The PRQ series air and gas Turbine starter available at Strumco Air Starter for gas turbine engines has a wide range of torque for various starting requirements.
PRQ Turbine starters are the newest addition to the line. Models are available to accommodate engines from 500 CID Diesel (8.25 liters diesel) to 12,000 CID Diesel ( 200 liters diesel). All PRQ turbine starters available at Strumco Air Starter are gas sealed and will crank gas engines to twice the displacement of diesel engines. (Gas engines have one half the compression ratios of Diesel engines).
